Thermal Glass Tempering & Chemical Glass Strengthening

Swift Glass offers a wide variety of glass tempering and chemical strengthening solutions.

When you need fabricated glass parts that can withstand the toughest situations, tempered glass is one of your best options.

It is one a popular choice for applications where traditional (annealed) glass could pose a potential safety hazard. By heating the glass to extreme temperatures and then accelerating the cooling process, the glass’s material properties are enhanced, making it up to 5x stronger and safer than untreated glass.

Swift Glass’s rigorous thermal tempering process also prevents glass from shattering into dangerous shards when broken.

Thermal tempering is great for these applications:

  • High-pressure windows
  • Explosion-proof windows
  • Lighting products
  • Industrial and residential doors

Our versatility allows us to provide materials in a variety of sizes and thicknesses. For thicknesses up to 1”, we can thermal temper length and width specifications of 34” x 72”. For thicknesses that range from 1” to 2.375”, we offer length and width constraints of 14” x 14” for thermal tempering.

Chemical Strengthening

Chemically-strengthened glass can be selected for applications with less extreme environments than tempered glass, but where added resistance to wind load, thermal stress and other factors are required. Chemically-strengthened glass often has higher quality surface characteristics than tempered glass, and normally retains similar break patterns of annealed glass. Swift Glass has the capability to chemically strengthen glass 30″ x 40″.
